7 Quick Takes Vol. 8

Yay it’s Friday! We’re having a rough day. Baby had her 9 month checkup yesterday and lost weight again, so we’re back to our schedule of increased formula calories, high calorie foods, etc. I’m hoping that we can get her to gain some weight again. The doctor’s not concerned, but she wants baby to gain some weight so we’re getting pretty vigilant about it again.

Baby also has a temperature for some unknown reason. Otherwise she’s acting pretty ok, albeit a bit grumpy. Since she just had her ears checked yesterday I assume it’s teething. I hope she’s not getting sick!

Looking forward to 4th of July fun next week and starting to plan our menu. BBQ, yes please!

Finally got my sewing machine set up and can’t wait to start my first project! Probably I will make a blanket or toy for baby to get back into the swing of things. I haven’t sewn anything in years so it might be a rocky start.

Hubby and I are struggling with the weather that we are experiencing here! The weather in West Texas pretty much couldn’t be more different than we we are used to from PA and it’s been quite the adjustment. It is HOT (106?!?!?) and DRY. So weird. The weather here is amazing in winter and spring but this summer, not so much!!

Obviously no new blog design this week. I’m still making decisions as far as what I want, and I want it to be cheap! I had something set up but it fell through so now I’m starting over.

I am reading Radical Homemakers: Reclaiming Domesticity from a Consumer Culture. It’s fascinating and so encouraging. Although I thought in the past about the connection between increased consumerism and two income households I never really fleshed it out in my mind, and the author does that here so well. I’m not finished with the book, but once I am expect a review!

Happy Friday!

Have a great weekend all!
