My daughter has never been with a babysitter. There, I said it. When my mom has visited or when hubby and I have gone back to Pgh my mom has watched her while we have gone out, but other than that she has only ever been alone with my mom, my hubby, or me. Am I crazy? Potentially. It just scares me to death. I know that there are plenty of sweet, capable babysitters out there (I would like to think that I was one- in college I did a ton of babysitting) but it’s scary when you’re in a new town and you don’t really know anyone that well. It’s great to get recommendations from people, but when you don’t even know the recommenders very well it’s difficult.
Eventually I am going to have to get a babysitter for a little bit during the day, even if it’s just once a week. I can’t get anything done around here! Baby is so crazy busy and mobile, so when she’s awake I cannot take my eyes off of her for a minute. When she naps I turn into a whirlwind of cleaning/lunch/dinner preparation, but her naps are really unreliable. A local church has a Parent’s Day Out program….. I wonder if I should go for that in lieu of a babysitter coming here??? Decisions, decisions.
New couch is being delivered tomorrow. Yay!
Plans are in the works for my 10 year high school reunion. That makes me feel old, and very nostalgic. Apparently it’s going to take place the weekend before Christmas so people are more likely to be in town, which is a great idea. I’m strangely excited about seeing my old friends.
Speaking of old, most of the students are moving out of the area and its fantastic. Currently we are renting a townhouse in an area populated mostly by students. We hear a lot of drunken shouting at 2AM. Since graduation lots of students have been moving out and the area is much quieter. I feel like an old lady, but I’m glad those kids wont’ be so noisy.
I need to join a mommy group, but I have been avoiding it like the plague. I’m not great at putting myself out there to make new friends but it’s something I need to do!
Excited to have my hubby home on Monday for Memorial Day! 🙂
Have a great weekend all!
